The new Nintendo Switch report is bad news for your wallet. Nintendo Switch games are now more expensive than PC, PlayStation and Xbox games for a variety of reasons. First, sales of the Nintendo eShop are not as abundant or charitable as sales on the Steam or PlayStation Store. Meanwhile, many of the biggest and best games on the console rarely receive significant discounts, especially if they are published by Nintendo. Finally, although not as common as before, the Nintendo Switch tax, which applies to a game that has more money than the Switch compared to other platforms, still exists. All this said sounds like a Switch game and Switch Lite is about to become even more expensive.

Now, contrary to this report, two games – The Plague Road and HoPiko –– currently sold for $ 0.99, making them the cheapest games on the platform right now. There are many other games on sale, but none of them violates the aforementioned $ 1.99 price tag.
On the surface, this seems to reject the claim from SMG Studio, but as the developer notes that their game was also recently $ 0.99, but this is because they planned to sell in August. In other words, these two games can be in a similar boat. The fact that they are the only two games on sale for under $ 0.99 suggests that this is the case. There are still many other games listed for $ 0.99, but this is their normal price and again they are likely to be acquired.
All that said, for now, take everything here with a grain of salt. Nothing is official here and so far Nintendo has not provided any kind of comment or explanation. If that changes, we’ll be sure to update the story. As for why Nintendo would do that, who knows. It may have something to do with the best-selling eShop page, which is full of games that drop to cheap price points, but for now this is just speculation.
