This is because it’s time to congratulate the all-new Nissan Z, which will probably come next year as a 2022 model. Officially called the Proto Z, this newly unveiled sports car can be given the name 400Z for production. While it looks very different from the car it will replace, it may look familiar if you know the history of your Z-car. The headlights, grille, overall shape and small details here and there pay homage to the original 1970 Datsun 240Z. This car really put the Datsun – Nissan’s name used for years – on the car’s performance map.
While the next generation Z honors its past, it is also very ready for tomorrow. Under the hood is a twin-turbo V6 engine, which is probably good for over 300 horsepower. While other Nissan cars focus on electrification, this one is aimed at the traditional enthusiast. To do this, you will be able to shift your own gears with a 6-speed manual transmission. For the target audience, Z simply won̵
The current 370Z has been around for nearly 12 years, long enough even by sports car standards. And there were often rumors that there might not even be another.
But it was too important a legacy for Nissan to just let go. Z will remain Z in its purest form. Two seats and combining many traditional attributes with a nod to the future, especially inside. The touch screen controls will be combined with classic style tools.
The so-called hereditary look has developed well for other sports cars, in particular the Ford Mustang over the last few generations and the Dodge Challenger, with an iconic design reminiscent of the original era of muscle cars.
Not lost in all this, the value of the classic Datsun Zs continues to increase, with the best examples of early models sometimes drawing six figures. Nissan is probably relying on this renewed enthusiasm to ensure that the next Z – like a comeback in return style – captures a bit of nostalgia for the one that started it all. But wrapped around a modern car aimed at 2022 and beyond.
