The new three-week Hearthstone event has quests and a story about Hunter’s origins

HearthstoneThe new patch contains much smaller pieces of content that add some pretty big changes. This is the Masquerade Ball event, where Rexxar gets his own entry in the Book of Heroes, so Hearthstone players can learn the hunter’s previous story.

Tavern Brawls and Arena

During the Masquerade Ball, players will receive a free start at the Dual-Class Arena. You will start your run by selecting a character, then force a character from another class, so you can have a mage with demonic claws. Players will then build a deck of cards from both classes (and some neutral cards to round things off).

There will be two tavern scandals. The first has a unique twist. Each time a player drops a minion on the board, he transforms into a minion that costs two more. When the upgraded minion dies, the original card is revealed and left on the board to fight.

There will be a new Tavern Brawl on October 1

4 – players will be able to choose from 10 past bosses, each with a unique hero strength. This mode allows matches like Dr. Boom vs. Illidan Stormrage or Cenarius vs. Hagatha the Vengeful.

A new set of characters has arrived in the game’s battlefield mode, including Ragnaros the Fiery Ruler and Al’Akir the Ruler. A bunch of new elementals have been added to the minions’ pool to help their bosses get out; for now, they will be pillars in the pool of minions, so players will be able to try out these new combinations in Battlegrounds.

In addition, Blizzard adds a new system for progression through an external rating similar to the ranked game mode.

Legendary quests (and a secret?)

The following quests are available to players and will unlock packs of reward cards.

September 29: Play Dual-Class Arena to win 1 Scholomance Academy package, 1 Ashes of Outland package and 1 year Dragon package.

October 6: Play 50 cards in each mode to win 1 Scholomance Academy package, 1 Decent of Dragons package and 1 year Dragon package.

October 13: Defeat Leoroxx in the Hearthstone Book of Heroes: Rexxar to win 1 Scholomance Academy package, 1 Saviors of Uldum package and 1 year Dragon package.

Players can also perform a “Secret Search” for two gold copies of a Student Card Transfer. Blizzard describes the search in the correction notes.

After a thorough inspection of the clothes in our lost and found closet, Transfer Student embarked on a laborious journey to find the perfect costume for the masquerade ball! We have identified a route in the dormitory that outlines an intention to visit Dalaran, Uldum, Dragon Light and the Black Temple. Written on the back is the mention of Rexxar’s fairy tale game in the Hearthstone Book of Heroes and at least one match in both Battlegrounds and Arena.

It seems that players will have to go through the past single player content that took place in the above locations, as well as fill in the new Book of Heroes content. Full fixes for update 18.4 can be found on the Blizzard website.
