Steve Hemmerstoffer, also known as OnLeaks, returns with our first look at the rendering of Google’s next mid-range phone, the Pixel 5a. Hemmerstoffer previously nailed the design of the Pixel 4a back in January 2020, so it’s wise to take his information about the Pixel 5a seriously.
There is really nothing to see in the renderings, as the Pixel 5a looks identical to previous Pixel devices such as the Pixel 4a 5G and Pixel 5 and is not that different from the Pixel 4a. In this case, Google does not repair what is not damaged. The design looks completely modern with thin frames and a camera with a perforator and there is really no need to ask for a change because of the change.
Like several other mid-range phones, the Pixel 5a offers some design solutions that you would actually prefer to the flagship smartphone. It has a flat screen without curved sides, a headphone jack and a rear capacitive fingerprint reader. Hemmerstoffer says the phone has a plastic back, stereo speakers and a 6.2-inch display, which is an increase in size compared to the 5.8-inch Pixel 4a.
There is an unknown additional camera on the back, but if Google follows the example of the Pixel 4a 5G and Pixel 5, the camera will have a wide-angle lens. After using the same camera sensor on the Pixel 2, 3, 4 and 5, 5a, will it be the first time in four years that Google has upgraded the camera hardware? This may be too much to ask for a mid-range phone.
Other important details, such as specifications and price, are still missing. The Pixel 3a was $ 400 and the Pixel 4a was $ 350, which makes it difficult to argue with both when you get great performance for so little.
It is assumed that when the Pixel 5a will be released. The Pixel 4a first expired eight months before it was released in August, but much of that time was probably due to delays from COVID-1
