The PS5 receives a system update to improve performance

Sony has released a system update from 20.02-02.25.00 for PlayStation 5, which weighs 866 MB. Specific data is not currently known, and the official description simply states that “This system software update improves system performance.” We contacted Sony to comment on what the update should change.

Since its release, unconfirmed reports point to potential PS5 hibernation issues and external hard drive crashes – this update may be an attempt to fix them.Unfortunately, after testing it for myself, this update doesn’t seem to fix the download queue that was hit by Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, among other games.

If you want to download the update manually, go to: Settings> System> System software> System software update and settings> System software update.

The update comes shortly before the second day of PS5 release on November 1

9, when it will launch in many new territories, including Europe, after its release on November 12 in the US, Japan, Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand and South Korea.

We awarded the PS5 an 8/10 review, saying what it “lacks in the subtlety that compensates in potential, thanks to the fast SSD and the remarkable DualSense controller.” Since its launch, we’ve put together a feature for 4 things we like about the PS5 and four things that need improvement.
