The researchers say they have reversed the aging process using an oxygen chamber



There are many applications for large devices known as hyperbaric oxygen chambers in the medical field. They can be used to treat wounds and can put a person under enough pressure to allow oxygen to be injected directly into the tissue without the need for blood flow. A group of researchers say they have reversed the aging process in older people using a hyperbaric oxygen chamber.

The first study of its kind was conducted by researchers at the University of Tel Aviv and focused on specific cells and DNA that are associated with shorter lives. During the study, researchers looked at whether oxygen therapy in a pressurized environment would reverse the effects of aging in 35 people over the age of 64.

Adult participants were housed in the cell for 90 minutes a day, five days a week for three months. The team is studying the effects on aging cells, which are associated with tissue and organ deterioration. The researchers also measured the length of each participant̵

7;s telomere, which is a molecule associated with premature cellular aging.

The researchers found that telomeres increased by an average of 20 percent, while aging cells decreased by up to 37 percent at the end of the study. According to the team of scientists, this is equivalent to 25 years younger. The participants in the trial were not required to change their lifestyle, diet or medication, all things that have been shown in the past to affect a person’s biological age.

Researchers, including doctors at Shamir Medical Center, believe the pressure chamber causes a brief lack of oxygen, causing cell regeneration. The team says it is remarkable that they have achieved such a significant elongation of telomeres in just three months of therapy.
