The Twitter website was down on Thursday afternoon, and users who attempted to visit the service were greeted with an error message.
A note on the company̵
“We are currently investigating this issue,” the status website said. “More updates are coming.”
The company’s mobile app also doesn’t seem to be working properly.
The crash comes a day after Twitter and Facebook’s rival made an unprecedented editorial decision to limit the scope of the New York Post’s story, which allegedly shows “smoking rifle” emails related to Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden and his son.
The company suffered a serious service failure earlier this year when the Twitter accounts of some of the country’s most famous people were compromised as part of an apparent bitcoin fraud in July. Among the victims were Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden, former President Barack Obama and Tesla CEO Elon Musk.
A company spokesman acknowledged that their team was considering issues.
