Now, if you’re a high-class enthusiast like me, you probably know that Naim’s stuff is no joke, and if, like me, you’re not a child of an oligarch, it’s probably far beyond your budget. That’s why the recently announced collaboration for Naim and Bentley Mu-So 2 wireless speakers is so great. It’s not cheap yet, but it’s much more affordable than anything else both brands do.
Thetakes design inspiration from modern Bentleys like and and is the first Mu-So to include wood in its design. It can be used as a regular Bluetooth speaker or even connect it to your TV to help with its sound. There are also Wi-Fi and USB ports. The Mu-So can be controlled via the multifunction button / screen on the top of the device, as well as via the Naim application.
The Naim app allows you to connect to streaming services like Tidal and Spotify Connect and play music via Apple AirPlay. The application is available for iOS and Android, and although I haven’t tested it yet, it seems to be well designed.
Now we come to the part where we talk about the middle ground, and that’s the price, of course. How much is the Naim x Bentley Mu-So speaker? Try $ 2100. By the standards of most people, this is a lot of quiche. By audiophile standards, that’s pretty damn reasonable. Is it worth it? Like I said, I haven’t tested it, but if it’s comparable to other Naim products at all, my guess is yes.
But wait, as they say, there is more. Bentley is also teaming up with Focal of France for a range of high-end headphones. The headphones have a closed design (this means less chance to eavesdrop on the people around you with sound) and are designed to mimic the sound profile of Mu-So. The materials used here are just as gorgeous, with ear cups finished in Pittards glove leather.
As you may have guessed, the Bentley x Focal Radiance headphones are not cheap either. They will retail for $ 1,300, which isn’t necessarily rough for high-end headphones, but it looks great for wireless headphones. And yet you will look like a complete legend carrying them on a plane when everyone can travel again, so maybe it’s worth it?
Both the Mu-So 2 speaker and the Radiance headphones will be available from October from select retailers at Focal, Naim and Bentley, as well as online at Naimaudio.com, Focal.com and shop.bentleymotors.com.
