What Ayurveda says
According to Ayurveda, not all food items are good to consume raw. You should only eat raw fruits, nuts and salads, but you also need to prepare all other foods. Ancient Indian medical system believes that cooking helps us in two ways:
Secondly, the prepared food is easily digested in the stomach and the nutrients are properly absorbed by the body.
Not only Ayurveda, even science supports these claims. There are some studies that clearly highlight why eating cooked foods is more beneficial than raw foods. According to a study, food prepared in water has more antioxidant content. In addition, raw vegetables can be hard to digest and can even lead to irritable bowel syndrome.
It's not that you have to completely deviate from raw food or salads. But you just have to be a little careful. It is best to warm your salad shortly before eating it, especially in winter. This is because our digestive system is stronger in the summer than in the winters. Also, do not consume raw food in the monsoon as bacterial and viral infections are at their peak during this time. Washing and cooking vegetables will kill the bacteria and protect you from various health problems.
