The flu season lasts from October to May in the United States, but the vaccine is available one month in advance from September and is available until mid-November. Skullcap belongs to the family of mint plants. The medicinal plant produces two herbs: the American skull and the Chinese skull. Studies show that when a skull cup is added to a mixture with other herbs, it can reduce fever, one of the main symptoms of influenza infection.
The Chinese medicinal herb is called the Baikal skull and has a long history of over 2000 years in the treatment of various diseases, including fever. For this reason, the Baikal skull was used as an ingredient in pharmaceutical combinations dating back to the second century after Christ in northwestern China.
The dried roots of a plant in China are called Huang Qing, which treats various conditions such as insomnia, blood pressure, bleeding, respiratory infections and inflammation. In Asia, herbal remedies such as Xiao Chai Hu Tang or Sho-saiko-to (SST) have Huang Qin as an ingredient. These medicines are used to deal with fever, gastrointestinal problems and liver disease.
Today, Huang Qing is commonly used to treat dysentery and diarrhea. Clinical trials support this medicinal benefit of the Baikal skull.
A study conducted by the Korean Food Allergy Research Institute also included body temperature monitoring. The result said that the group taking the herbal medicines showed a decrease in temperature.
Can be consumed in the form of tea, raw root extract, tonics and capsules. The most convenient way is to place a teaspoon of dried American skull in a glass of boiling water to make tea. It can also be bought from store shelves as a tonic, as it is sold with a combination of herbal ingredients for insomnia treatment.
