AirPods Pro made its way to consumers and the Apple Store today with noise cancellation, transparency mode and more. Speaking about Apple's earnings call today, Tim Cook said he sees AirPods Pro as a complement to AirPods rather than substitutes.

The Apple wearables, home and accessories category reached $ 6.5 billion in revenue for Q4 2019, including AirPods, Beats and Apple Watch. Regarding AirPods, Cook said they continue to set "new highs."
"AirPods just keep hitting new highs. And I expect it to carry over into this quarter. And we're really proud to add another product out there for people who want noise cancellation with the AirPod Pro, which goes on sale today. "
AirPods Pro was not released in time to be included in Apple's Q4 2019 earnings report, but Tim Cook said he expects existing AirPods owners to be the first to buy the new version:
" we are eager to see the customers of the new AirPod Pro. But I would suggest that one, especially in the beginning, will be people who have AirPods today and also want to have a pair for the time they need to cancel the noise. "
Cook's belief that Apple customers probably own both AirPods and AirPods Pro is interesting. Although they offer different feature sets, there is still a lot of overlap in terms of overall functionality.
