Tip for Black Friday 2020: Save an extra 10% or more on Amazon

This story is part of Holiday Gift Guide 2020Choose CNET gifts with expert advice, reviews and recommendations for the latest technology gifts for you and your family.

Think you know everything you need to know to save money Black Friday ? Think again. I have a few tips that you may have missed. (While you’re at it, be sure to learn the secret of celebrating deals with Amazon all year round.)

Get up to 8% cash on Amazon devices

TopCashback will give you an 8% discount on almost every Amazon device you buy, including those on sale.

TopCashback

I have been a long-time fan of refund services such as Dosh, Rakuten and TopCashback, which I use throughout the year to receive discounts on almost everything I buy.

Currently TopCashback offers a good offer: 8% cash back on Amazon devices and 7% back on Amazon home security and smart home equipment. That means products ranging from smart speakers and Echo displays to Fire tablets and TV sticks, plus Kindle e-readers, bell bells and Blink cameras.

Here’s what: Not many of these items are on sale right now, but they will be (again) starting this Friday, November 20th. The refund option applies to sales prices, so you’ll have a chance to double your immersion savings. (You may be able to dive three times; see below.)

Also remarkable: If you don’t have an Amazon Prime subscription yet, you’ll get $ 15 back when you sign up for one through TopCashback. This is almost the only discount for Prime that I know, everywhere.

You can sign up for a TopCashback account and it requires a little more than your name and email address. Once you register, visit this TopCashback page for Amazon and click Get cashback. This will take you to Amazon, where you shop normally. Soon after you make your purchase, you should receive an email confirming that TopCashback has registered it. (Important: Do not use an ad blocker during this process, otherwise your purchase may no sign in.)

Remember: This is not a pre-discount; this is a refund after the fact, just like with your credit card. And speaking of which, using TopCashback (or another refund service) does not interfere with the cash back you receive from any credit card you use for your purchases. Like, say, this one:

Save an additional 10% or more with your Amazon Visa card

Get more money than usual for selected items when you pay with your Amazon Prime Rewards Visa card.

Amazon

If you have Map of Amazon Prime Rewards Visa, you know it pays you a 5% cash discount on almost every Amazon purchase. However, Amazon often raises this rate for select products. At the moment, for example, you can return 10% back on various toys, kitchen items and electronics.

Don’t have Prime Rewards Visa yet? Here’s the time to sign up: If you’re an Amazon Prime subscriber, you will receive a $ 100 gift card once you are approved for this annual Visa fee.

A remarkable example of how this can benefit you: Discounts are rare at the moment The Sonos Move speaker is $ 399 on Amazon, the same price as always. But if you pay with your Prime Rewards card, you will get 10% back, which is about $ 40.

Needless to say, if one of your holiday shopping plans includes Amazon, it’s worth exploring these two options.
