The Dow was 0.6%, or 170 points, still around 370 points below its continuous close. The Nasdaq is 0.6% and more than 1% below its final record.
All three indices are on track for profit this week, driven mostly by corporate earnings.
However, on Friday, the US Commerce Office's Representative stated that the United States and China were aiming to finalize their first trade agreement. This gave a boost to the stock.
