NBC Sports analyst and former Colts coach Tony Dungi has come under fire on social media for his deafening reaction to Duck Prescott’s horrific ankle fracture he suffered on Sunday.
“As difficult as it is for Duck Prescott, it can be a disguised blessing for the cowboys,” Dungi said before Sunday Night Football. “They have a good quarterback veteran who can make a few plays that could make them go back to their old formula, lean on the current game, lean on Ezekiel Elliott, help the defense control the ball. You still have wide receivers and Andy Dalton will do a few plays with those receivers. “
Dungi’s comments came as the football-watching country was still absorbing the disturbing scene of the cowboys̵
As the Twitter crowd grew, Dungi tried to clarify his comments.
“The disguised blessing was a bad choice of words from me,” Dungi wrote on Twitter. “It’s not a blessing for Duck. What I meant was that for the cowboys, the season is not over. Andy Dalton is very capable and changing the focus back to Elliott can help the defense. But I feel very bad for Duck. “
