EXCEPTIONAL

Lady Gaga may run for an Oscar again next February.

I’m told that Gaga, who won an Oscar for “Shallow” from “A Star is Born,” wrote and performed the title track for Tom Cruise’s “Top Gun Maverick.”

The highly anticipated sequel to the original “Top Gun” will finally be released this fall from Paramount. He was supposed to come in June and before that last year. But the pandemic hit everyone’s plans.

Cruz was spotted at the Lady Gaga show in December 2019, dressed in a nice suit and tie and protruding like a sore thumb. The video appeared on Instagram, looking mesmerized by the sensational artist. He can leave his cult and join hers!

Choosing the song “Maverick” is a big deal. The theme song for “Top Gun” was “Take My Breath Away” in Berlin. It has become an international hit and a classic that still plays over and over again, like it or not.

What else about Lady Gaga? Probably a mid-summer release for her second album with duets with Tony Bennett. He celebrates his 95th birthday on August 3. Cole Porter’s collaboration album should appear then.

PS This will make three possible nominees for best song, including “There’s No Time to Die” by Billy Isle and “Somehow You Do It” by Reba McIntyre – written by Diane Warren, of course.
