Top New Game Releases for Switch, PS4, Xbox One, and PC This Week – September 8-14, 2019



New Releases highlights some of the biggest games that start each week, but this bonus-length episode packs in a few extras. We even have a dedicated sports section for eFootball Pro Evolution Soccer 2020 and NHL 20. This week is also home to AAA shooters like Gears 5 and Borderlands 3, plus some games you won't want to fly under your radar like GreedFall and Demon x Machine . The Gothic indie adventure Blasphemous arrives this week as well.

Gears 5 – September 10

Gears 5 focuses on Kait Diaz, who will learn more about her own family's history as she reveals the origins of Locust. Gears 5 offers standard campaign and multiplayer options, but there are some major changes to other modes this time around. On the one hand, Horde mode gives each character unique abilities and ultimate attacks – there are even a couple of Halo: Reach characters in the mix. The characters also get special bonuses in the new escape mode, a three-player co-op attempt to destroy the Locust Beehives.

Blasphemy – September 10

Blasphemy is a combat platformer established in the land of Cvstodia. You play as The Pertinent One, which has a deadly blade known as Mea Culpa. You can customize the blade with different decorations as you explore the world and take down massive bosses. Blasphemous developer The Game Kitchen promises "a fast, skilled battle [and] deep and evocative storytelling core."

GreedFall – September 10

Why is the name changed to PES 2020? This year, the football game focuses on online multiplayer, with professional tournaments and the PES League. There is also a new mode called Matchday, in which two pre-selected teams face each day. You can enter and win the match for your team of choice – almost like Splatoon 2 Splatfest, but with a real sport.

NHL September 20 – 13

NHL 20 also has its own set of new functions. First, the Franchise mode mixes things up, allowing you to hire coaches who come with new dialogue and intelligence options. The hockey last team is back with new battles for teams that give you a new cast of opponents to pick up every day.

Borderlands 3 – September 13

There are new characters that you should also check out in Borderlands 3. Amara Siren, Moze the Gunner, Zene the Operative and FL4K the Beastmaster are your Treasure Hunters for his adventure. However, you will not look for a Pandora Vault; for the first time you can travel to other planets aboard the Sanctuary III. As usual, expect to find a ridiculous amount of guns while fighting the evil Calypso twins.

Nintendo Switch Receives Exclusive This Week thanks to Daemon x Machina, which is all about the mech battle. You can customize your sack, known as Arsenal, with a variety of hand-held and shoulder-mounted weapons – and you'll need all the firepower you can get to save the world after the moon is destroyed. Daemon x Machina offers both local and online multiplayer.
