Trump Alumni Launches Nonprofit “America First” with $ 20 Million to Promote Populist Conservatism

Trump-era officials on Tuesday launched a new non-profit organization called the America First Policy Institute, with a mission to bolster a populist program similar to that of former President Trump.

The group of 35 people has a first-year budget of $ 20 million and a number of prominent Trump alumni at the helm. Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner will serve as informal advisers.

Brooke Rollins, Trump’s head of the Home Affairs Council, will be chief executive and president, and Linda McMahon, a former head of the small business administration and a member of the former president̵

7;s cabinet, will chair the board. The vice president is Larry Cudlow, a former Trump economic adviser at the White House. Kudlow is hosting a Fox Business show.

Rollins, McMahon and Kudlow first discussed the formation of the non-profit organization in December. Rollins met with Trump last week at Mar-a-Lago to detail the group’s plans, which he was “pleased” to hear.

The group plans to increase its budget to $ 40 million by next year. An AFPI spokesman did not reveal where the $ 20 million funding came from, but attributed the success to her management’s early donations.

AFPI includes 20 different political focuses, many of which are run by Trump alumni. The Center for Energy Independence will be chaired by former Energy Secretary Rick Perry, and National Security will be co-chaired by former Acting Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe and retired Lt. Gen. Keith Kellogg, who was National Security Adviser to Vice President Mike Pence. .

Former Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi will chair the Center for Law and Justice. Bondi also served as a defender of Trump during his first impeachment trial.

AFPI is currently based in Arlington, Virginia, but plans to move to Washington to move closer to the action.

“We know we need to gain trust and confidence through results. In Washington, D.C., where results are low and trust is low, it may seem like scaling up an impossible summit,” Rollins told Fox News. “But that’s our advantage: like the Trump presidency that brought us together, we’ve never been from Washington, D.C. We are just in it – and in many capitals of the states, as I write – and therefore we are not followed by its ways. ”

The group plans to have offices in Fort Worth, Texas, Miami and New York.

“The Patriots who bring together the Institute for First Policy in America (AFPI) are some of the greatest champions of freedom, free enterprise, national greatness, and the primacy of American workers, families, and communities our nation has ever seen,” Trump said. in a declaration. “Linda McMahon, Brooke Rollins, Larry Cudlow, Rick Perry, General Kellogg and the other freedom fighters at AFPI have my full support, as they work not only to preserve the historic achievements of my administration, but to drive America first. A program for the future. I look forward to working with them to save America. ”

Announcing the start of his Fox Business show, Cudlow called the band “bipartisan.”

“It’s bipartisan, which means we’re going to set out every policy we know that puts America first and Americans first,” Rollins agreed.

Unlike other free market-oriented groups with Republican support, the Conservative group calls for “fair trade” rather than “free trade.”

“For years, DC and global corporate elites, in the name of free trade orthodoxy, have allowed markets and market efficiency to have a huge impact on policy decisions,” the group wrote on its website. “Nowhere was it more obvious than in international trade, where the United States has repeatedly struck deals that protect and promote the interests of foreign workers, foreign agriculture, and foreign business – but not ours.”

On foreign policy issues, the group will take a firm stand against China. “For decades, insiders from DC and Wall Street elites have maintained the lie that America’s engagement with communist China will lead to the country’s opening, liberalization, and reform,” the AFPI website said.

The group also seeks to proclaim classic American values in education and elsewhere, “not as a look back at the past, but as the foundation of our future.”

AFPI plans to develop a policy for tighter border restrictions. “From efforts to dissuade immigrant social inclusion, to stories of American lawlessness, to abuse of our asylum system, we are witnessing an unprecedented encroachment on what has made our nation great. The American First Political Institute (AFPI) is conducting research and develops policies to secure our borders, modernize our obsolete ports of entry, and develop merit-based policies, ”the website said.
