Earlier this year, Romney was one of several GOP senators who voted to condemn Trump for inciting the deadly riots in the US Capitol on January 6. He also voted to convict Trump on one charge during the impeachment trial in 2020.
Trump has repeatedly insulted Romney, including criticizing his impeachment votes and mocking him for attending the Black Lives Matter march in Washington last year.
