Sixty-two percent of Americans say they disapprove of the work Trump is doing, while only 36 percent approve, according to a study by the Associated Press NORC at the Center for Public Affairs Research released Thursday.
Although low compared to former President Obama, Trump's latest approval rating is relatively consistent with the results of polls observed during his first term in office. Trump's approval rating remained between 32 percent and 42 percent throughout his time in office, the AP noted.
Against the backdrop of a recession poll that Trump officials and the administration dismissed, 46 percent of Americans approve of running a Trump economy.

Trump's approval in other policy-specific fields is much lower, polls have found. Thirty-six percent of Americans approve of Trump's foreign policy and policy, 37 percent approve of his health policy, and only 38 percent approve of his immigration policy.
The survey surveyed 1,058 adults between August 15 and 19. There is an error of 4.2 percentage points.
