The tweet came after the Post first reported that the foundation had called for a campaign to re-elect Trump and the Republican National Committee (RNC) to stop using Reagan’s name and image.
The organization made its request last week after Trump’s campaign sent an email asking for a donation of $ 45 or more to come in to receive a “limited edition” set of two gold coins that have images of Trump and Reagan.
Reagan Foundation Chief Marketing Officer Melissa Giller told The Hill Saturday that RNC used Reagan’s image “without our consent,” even though the foundation owns the rights to it.
Michael Arons, RNC communications director told The Hill that the foundation had “very recently host of the Trump family to raise money for his organization and has not objected to us, using the resemblance of President Reagan before. “But he said the RNC would stop” sending fundraising requests as a courtesy. ”
In recent weeks, Trump has repeatedly criticized Fox News polls for showing him behind Biden in the presidential race.
Last week, Fox News polls found the president behind Biden with 9 percentage points in Michigan and 11 percentage points in Pennsylvania. Trump won both countries in the 2016 election.
Trump called Fox News polls showing him behind Biden “fake” in an interview with Fox News Sunday last week, comparing them to polls in 2016, most of which predicted he would lose college and the popular vote.
The hill has contacted both the Reagan Foundation and Fox News for comment.
