Trump is reported to be helping France cope with the G7 summit



President Donald Trump publicly praised French President Emmanuel Macron, even as his aides raged at the G7 summit in France, according to multiple reports.

Although Trump boasted about his "special relationship" with Macron during a private lunch at the start of the summit, his associates believe the French organized the event in a way that antagonized the United States by focusing on "niche" emissions "at the expense of economic.

Bloomberg News reports that US officials privately accuse Macron of trying to isolate Trump by focusing much of his discussions on climate change ̵

1; a topic over which Trump contradicts his colleagues in world leaders.

The New York Times similarly reports that senior administration officials believe Macron has appealed to his home audience, focusing on climate change, income and gender equality and African development.

US officials told Bloomberg that they believe the French are bound to bother Trump on issues such as climate change, although a French official also told the newsletter that ignoring climate change was not an option.

The dispute between the US and France was not the only dispute between world powers this weekend. The summit began quickly, with leaders exchanging bars, posing and even making trade threats.

This year's summit in Biarritz, France, should continue until Monday.
