Two tourists face criminal charges of dangerously breeding the Old Faithful Geyser in Yellowstone National Park, officials said.
Men were filmed last week at the end of Old Faithful, peering into a natural miracle – apparently not aware that they could be seriously burned, or worse, if the boiling hot water erupts, as happens every hour.
Tourists, one with a phone in his right hand and apparently taking a close-up photo of Old Faithful, ignored signs that stood out on paths throughout the park, a witness said.
“And no, there is no barrier. They just got off the pedestrian walkway, "a woman who took pictures of unscrupulous tourists, told NBC News on Monday.
She said signs were everywhere in the park," including right from the pedestrian walkway where they got off. "[1
" The safety of the heat zone is an extremely important part of any trip to Yellowstone. " according to the park service statement on Monday.
Federal prosecutors could not be reached immediately for comment on Monday.
Yellowstone, although it did not mention the two men, warned visitors Friday to be careful while sleeping
"No photo is worth it to hurt yourself, the others or the park. Be aware of your surroundings, near wildlife, thermal areas, roads or steep cliffs, "according to Y Tweets at ellowstone National Park.
