Unemployment claims in the United States fell to 1.2 million in August 1 week



Unemployment benefit records fell to their lowest level since March last week, meaning layoffs are declining somewhat as the labor market struggles to recover from the coronavirus pandemic.

Initial unemployment claims fell by seasonally adjusted 249,000 to 1.2 million for the week ended August 1, the labor ministry said on Thursday. The decline came as an additional $ 600 a week in pandemic unemployment benefits.
