"Unicorn meteor storm" may be triggered by mysterious comet Thursday night

The oncoming meteor shower this week is not your typical one: Alpha monokeroids can turn into a rare meteor storm on the evening of November 21st.

Astronomers say stars can see several meteors per minute, according to AccuWeather. You will need to be fast because the peak of alpha monceroids is only about an hour long. Look for shooting stars between 11pm and midnight Eastern time.

The last meteor shower of this rain was in 1995 and produced 400 meteors per hour. If there is no meteor storm, you can expect to see about 10 meteors per hour.

The source of the alpha monocerotides is unknown. They appear to originate from the constellation Monoseros, a unicorn.
