The father and son of the teens receiving gas and the caretaker were killed when an SUV with a driver who was behind the wheel ran into them at Tuesday morning at Route 23 at Wayne, the authorities confirmed.
The driver's Honda Pilot stepped back from the divider and at Delta's gas station on the north side of the highway at about 8:45 am, the respondents said.
He collided with a convertible Chevy Camaro, killing his father and his 17-year-old son, as well as the escort who pumped their gas, said a friend of the Daily Voice victim's families.
Tomorrow would be the father's birthday, "added the boyfriend.
The unidentified driver apparently was overwhelmed by an opioid and had to be revived with Narcan before being taken to St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center in Patterson, the authorities said.
"His ID card was still in the vehicle," said the official. "A search warrant must be obtained in order to be identified.
Another vehicle, Nissan Rogue, has also been hit, Passaic County prosecutor Camelia Valdes and Wayne Clarke's chief of police.
Flying scrapes damaged the vehicles at Mazda's nearby dealer, part of a massive crime scene.
