Updates to Black Ops Cold War Zombies: Firebase Z, New Perk and more

To celebrate Day 115, Treyarch shared a new blog post highlighting some of what’s coming up in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War soon.

The new zombie map, Firebase Z, arrives on February 4 for free.

In his blog post, Treyarch goes into great detail about the origins of the Firebase Z map, reveals the new Tombstone Perk, provides updates on the pressure mode, and more.

Firebase Z ” will arrive on February 4 during Season One, free for all Cold War players.

Today we are excited to debut the official logo and new details for our next zombie map.

In less than three weeks, Firebase Z will introduce zombie fans to a whole new place located in the jungles of Vietnam, along with new characters, new enemies, new gameplay mechanics and much more. And, in accordance with the tradition of zombies, a new wonderful weapon awaits us.

Now – without spoiling too a lot – let’s go down in history so far.

Dimensional disorders continue to open up around the world. As both Omega and Requiem work in the shadows to ensure the secrecy of their discoveries, the general public remains blissfully unaware of this deadly new arms race between East and West.

As the two sides continue to study the dimension of the Dark Ether and the Ethereum crystals found inside, each seeks an advantage over the other in the ongoing Cold War. The bad news? Requiem lags behind.

Omega Group’s latest research point represents their huge success in using Dark Eter technology for their own profits. Equipped with a dimensional portal on site, they have acquired the ability to send soldiers and other “servicemen” into the Dark Ether to collect ethereum crystals directly from the source.

As a result, Omega Group’s scientific achievements over the past few months have far surpassed anything Requiem could have imagined.

With the destruction of the Projekt Endstation anomaly after them, Gregory Weaver and Requiem’s agents turn their attention to a far greater threat: a new site for the Dark Ether eruption in Southeast Asia.

After learning that Agent Maxis has been captured by the Omega Group, Weaver deploys Requiem’s strike team to break into the facility where: Outpost 25.

Despite all chances, Requiem’s forces will break into the outpost to meet with an Omega Group informant, save Samantha Maxis and, above all, survive the new horrors that await them in this abandoned research facility.

In the coming weeks we will have more details about the history of “Firebase Z”, new revelations from Intel and the official gameplay trailer to share at the beginning of the launch. In the meantime, let’s dive into the extra content coming to Zombies as season 1 continues.

Since we may not have hinted very subtly on New Year’s Eve, we will bring the seventh bonus Cold War Zombies with the launch of “Firebase Z”: Tombstone Soda.

“But Treyarch,” you ask, “what’s so great about Tombstone?” Thanks for asking. Great question.

When deciding on the next Perk to present to Zombies, the design team reviewed each Perk’s full history and abilities from the past that centered around death, and eventually made them an incredibly useful Perk for Cold War. Tombstone Soda is about manipulating and deceiving the consequences of death, and you will need it against the forces that await you in Vietnam.

Unlike his first incarnation in Black Ops II, the new and improved Tombstone Soda will now turn the shadow player into Dark Eter once downloaded. In this shade you will be provided with weapons to give you a chance to revive. However, if your health is reduced to zero while in the shade, you are dead.

Fortunately, the benefits of Tombstone only improve from there. Each Perk comes with its own set of upgrade skills Cold War, and this one is no different. By investing Aetherium crystals in your Tombstone Perk Skill, you will unlock the following upgrades:

  • Level I – The shape of the shadows can regenerate health.
  • Tier II – Increase the reduced duration to 60 seconds.
  • Tier III – When you die, throw a tombstone hiding place, which saves your weapons, equipment and resources.

You’ll be able to pick up a can from Tombstone Perk’s Firebase Z machine, and you’ll also find it at Der Wunderfizz’s Die Maschine on February 4th. When in doubt, just remember those eternal jingling lyrics: Rest in pieces, down for the number …

February 4 will also lead to two new Scorestreaks for support to face the undead: the devastating Artillery and always satisfying Napalm Strike. When the action gets a little too hot, head to the craft table and turn on the heat even more.

Ah, we love the smell of crunchy zombies in the morning.

And of course, a new zombie map means a new one in the Intel game. Watch out for new audio logs, documents, radio communications, Dark Aether shipments, and artifacts hidden in Firebase Z from February 4th. You never know what you might find.

Friendly reminder: if you haven’t found 100% of the Intel game hidden in “Die Maschine” and Onslaught yet, now is the time to complete your collection before the story continues!
