Lake County to begin vaccination appointments

Lake County officials announced Tuesday that they will begin administering some vaccines by appointment. Lake County will begin administering immunizations for the Pfizer-BioNtech COVID-19 vaccine beginning January 12. The Florida Department of Health in Lake County is supplying the county with a limited number of vaccines to be distributed in accordance with Governor Ron DeSantis’ priority population to include residents and staff of long-term care facilities, people 65 and older, and health personnel with direct contact with patients. People can make appointments online starting at 2pm on Tuesdays here. “The distribution of vaccines in Lake County is part of a long-term multilateral government initiative with several existing and evolving immunization opportunities,” said Sean Parks, chairman of the Lake County Board. “We listened to the concerns of our community and wanted to speed up appointment-based immunization for our residents and vulnerable older people.” The health ministry will continue to distribute its vaccines as a matter of urgency.
