An inmate from an Ohio prison received a package allegedly containing a cellphone and marijuana in a bold drone that was captured in surveillance cameras, authorities said Thursday.
The stunning footage was recorded at some point between June 22 and 25 at the Cuyahoga County Jail in Euclid, about 10 miles north of downtown Cleveland, authorities said.
The video shows several prisoners in the prison yard, creating what appears to be a corn hole game.
One of the prisoners looks up, apparently focusing on an object flying from above. It almost travels over the corn hole board as the packet falls slightly out of its reach.
The pack bounces a few meters before the prisoner approaches him, wraps him in an orange prison shirt and retreats.
Prisoners not "I don't see a drop in smuggling at this time," said a Cuyahoga County sheriff's spokesman. But the inmates eventually learned of this when word of mouth about the fall spread among prisoners leading investigators to smuggling days later, the spokesman added.
Cuyahoga County sheriff's deputies are still investigating the incident, prosecutors said.
