Footage broadcast by Vietnam’s state television (VTV) this week shows dozens of large bags containing used contraceptives scattered on the floor of a warehouse in the southern province of Binh Duong.
Police said the bags weighed more than 360 kilograms, equivalent to 345,000 condoms, according to VTV.
The owner of the warehouse said that they received “a monthly introduction of used condoms from an unknown person”, the state newspaper Tuoi Tre
A woman detained during the bust told police that the prophylactics used were first boiled in water, then dried and reshaped on a wooden phallus before being repackaged and resold.
VTV said it was unclear how many recycled condoms had already been sold. The detainee said she received $ 0.1
Neither she nor the warehouse owner were available for comment.
