Programming note: Watch “Race in America: A Candid Conversation” on Friday, July 31, at the NBC Sports Bay Area after the conclusion of “Giants Postgame Live.”
Warriors coach Steve Kerr posted a powerful photo on Twitter last week, including former Golden State players Devon George and Sleepy Floyd.

The two former Warriors were photographed in Warriors’ № 8 and № 46 uniforms, meaning the length of time – eight minutes and 46 seconds – that former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin knelt on George Floyd̵
So how did this tribute come about?
Sleepy Floyd explained the story during the latest episode of “Race in America: A Candid Conversation,” which airs Friday at NBC Sports Bay Area after “Giants Postgame Live.”
“I have a great relationship with the Warriors,” he said. “I still do a lot of things in the community – different projects that they call me. The PR department reached out to me and they wanted to do something to make an impact.
“I thought it was great. It’s very creative. So they sent a T-shirt and we took some pictures (with) different angles and different background colors, and basically took it from there.”

The image is now Kerr’s Twitter profile photo, which can serve as a great reminder that the fight for racial equality is far from over.

As he sleepily noted, there is a lot of work ahead.
“Remember. They (the Warriors) want to keep it in people’s minds. People are still facing challenges,” he said. “This is something we have to fight for to move forward … in our individual ways that affect the community. I have these awkward conversations – which I have had with many of my friends.
“I actually cut off some of my friends (after) by looking at some of the things they’ve posted about this whole situation from the beginning.”
Be sure to watch the entire conversation tonight.
