Watch Derek Delgaudio’s “In & Of Itself” on Hulu, see Derek + Frank Oz’s director on Stephen Colbert

Derek DelGaudio FROM ALONE, ‘a film directed by Frank Oz, airs on Hulu from Friday, January 22nd.

Both Derek DelGaudio and Frank Oz are on the Stephen Colbert show tonight (Thursday, January 21) and talk about creating this filmic interpretation of Derek’s living, interactive, one-on-one experience.

We cover the performance here of Boeing Boing and here back in 2016. We really love Derek’s work at Boeing Boeing. And I really love this movie.

I watched this movie months ago and was deeply moved. I’ve never seen a live performance, so everything was completely new to me.

I don’t want to give away too much, but I can say that IN & OF SEBE now seems to me something like a medicine for the soul, and @derek_del and @TheFrankOzJam are really releasing their collaboration just in time.

Transcendental things.

So, take some time, maybe tonight, if you’re reading this after the release date, and watch it – maybe alone, maybe with someone you’re interested in.

Derek DelGaudio’s In & Of Itself is a new kind of lyric poem. It tells the story of a man who struggles to see through the illusion of his own identity, only to discover that identity itself is an illusion..

In & Of Itself was a one-of-a-kind theatrical experience created by Derek DelGaudio and directed by Frank Oz. The show had its world premiere at the Geffen Playhouse in Los Angeles on May 3, 2016, where it saw several expansions before moving to the Daryl Roth Theater in New York City. He opened Off-Broadway to critics and once again extended his initial 10-week engagement, selling his intimate house with 150 seats, night after night. The show continued to expand its cycle, over and over again, until DelGaudio decided (somewhat controversially) to end the show in the midst of its success, saying, “I feel like I said what I wanted to say.” After 72 weeks, 560 performances and winning over $ 7 million at the box office, In & Of Itself closed as one of the most successful shows in history outside of Broadway.
