Watch SpaceX Starship's presentation at 9PM ET (updated)

Musk has previously hinted that the event may show the completed prototype before its first suborbital flight. There is also an opportunity for SpaceX to reduce the deadline for this flight, which could happen as early as October. Other updates may include design changes and revisions to the long-term schedule. Many details are not set in stone and you are likely to see significant changes.

As it stands now, the Starship prototype will have three Raptor engines (six in the ready version) and should reach a height of 1

2.5 miles before returning to Earth. The final ship is scheduled to enter commercial service by 2021, complete a tourist trip around the moon by 2023, and ultimately conduct missions around the solar system. However, SpaceX is not certain to achieve these goals. The company is known for its optimistic timing (it first expected a Falcon Heavy test flight in 2013) and has not even built the Super Heavy Booster needed for more ambitious missions. You will need a lot of space for SpaceX to achieve its goals and you may have a better sense of its progress after presentation.

Update 9/28 6PM ET: SpaceX is a revamped update to "no earlier than" 9PM east of the original 8PM due to time. We updated the story accordingly.
