In 2016, Musk tweeted that Plaid would be reserved for the upcoming Roadster so it looks like plans have changed. He explained in another tweet today that the setup of the Plaid with a triple motor is "about a year away," and he plans to make it available on the Model S, X and Roadster, but not the cheaper / smaller Model 3 or Y.

This isn't quite the Taikan Nurburgring Musk originally promised to see you this week, but later mentioned that the company would have to to do more review and testing before trying.
Our friends at Autoblog have taken spy shots of a modified Model S P100D, which, as Musk promised, is currently moving on the German lane, so hopefully the battle between sports EVS we will get some comparable data soon.
