Wedding of 300 guests in Washington related to 17 coronavirus cases: Coronavirus updates: NPR



People who attended a Nov. 7 wedding near Ritzville, Washington, tested for coronavirus. Health officials are calling for more than 300 people present to be tested and quarantined by Nov. 21, a statement from Grant County said.

Seventeen cases were related to the wedding, and wedding participants diagnosed with coronavirus were linked to two subsequent outbreaks, health officials said. During the event, wedding ceremonies in the area were limited to 30 people.

Weddings continue to be an important source of hearths. A 55-person wedding in Maine in August killed seven people who were not present. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 177 cases were related to the wedding.

According to the State Department of Health, Washington has seen a total of 1

31,532 confirmed coronavirus cases and 2,548 deaths. Nearly 2% of people who had coronavirus in Washington died.

Ahead of Thanksgiving, when cases in Washington are on the rise, government officials are urging residents to stay home to stop the virus from spreading. Washington Gov. Jay Insley has issued a new order banning indoor gatherings, with some exceptions, and closing indoor bars and restaurants.
