What does Justin Bieber’s “Holy” mean for his next move?

As Justin Bieber’s “Holy” reaches No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 – marking his 20th hit in the top 10 – what does the single mean for the pop star’s next move?

Bieber himself called “Holy” the beginning of a “new era” and is currently working on recording a new studio album. (This is “one of the best music I’ve ever made,” Bieber said live recently.) So what can Holy offer for the sound of the new project?

In the new Billboard Pop Shop podcast (listen below), the team discusses whether the enlightened sound of “Holy,” where Bieber sings “the way you hold me … feels so sacred,”

; points to a specific genre or sound in the upcoming project. Will it be a continuation of the journey that Bieber began with his recent album, Changeswho debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 earlier this year?

The man who actually heard music on Bieber’s next album was his “Holy” collaborator Chance the Rapper. Chance recently shared his thoughts with Bieber on his next project: “It’s some of the best music I’ve ever heard, period. It reminds me of when Michael Jackson did Off the wall… It’s literally groundbreaking music … I don’t want to hand out genres (on the album) and all that stuff, but you’re crazy. “

Elsewhere in the new Pop Shop Podcast, hosts Jason and Keith are reviewing news in the big charts about how Taylor Swift beats a long-standing record in the charts held by Whitney Houston, how BTS jumps back to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and how Charlie Put accrued a fourth top 10 in the Hot 100 thanks to his outfitting with Gabby Barrett in “I Hope.”
