The covert toast (Jeremy Wang) broke its silence after it was “canceled”
Over the years, Covert Toast has gained popularity among streamers. As a result, it has a huge number of over 3.5 million subscribers on YouTube and 1.3 million followers on Twitter. His witty remarks and “sharp” humor are liked by many. However, there are a few who did not take this as a joke. This is how the whole drama began.
Why is the covert toast “canceled”?
On May 2, a Twitter user named Hope posted a thread calling for “Covert Toast” and talking about his problematic behavior. The Twitter user posted several videos of the streamer along with some of the statements he had made in the past to prove their point.
The user claims that some of the things Toast said were “borderline offensive.” The post read: “He explained that there is a gray area between being offended and not being offended, and he prefers to stay in the gray area where people can narrow his eyes and say, ‘this is something wrong,’ but at the same time it is not. ”
As the post continues, the user notes: “Making sharp humor or sad humor is not funny unless you are part of this community and you are joking. When someone who is not part of this community invades the space to which they do not belong, it becomes insulting.
The post continues to state several reasons why the Toast should be “canceled”. You can read the whole topic here.
A disguised toast responds that it has been “canceled”
After several people began to receive the “Discontinued Toast Canceled” trend, he decided to break his silence on Twitter. Hours after the thread went viral, Tost posted, “Dealing with my ‘problematic’ past and undoing it.”
He writes: “I have always followed the line of” irritated “humor when it comes to my online presence. In the last 5 years I have developed a more sarcastic, frank and satirical personality. There is nothing in what I have done in public that I have tried to hide, or to erase, or to claim that I do not know. I take full responsibility for everything I said and for all my actions. I can proudly say that I am a person who is really open to his life in a space where many hide, not because they are bad people, but because people on the Internet like to appreciate and give their lives to the streamer.
The toast revealed that he decided to talk when his friends started targeting. In his reply, he also spoke about the allegations made against him. He concluded the post by writing: “The only thing I want is to leave my friends alone. They are wonderful people who do not deserve any hatred to communicate with me. Boycott my content, undo me, whatever – but don’t drag them into it by squeezing them or apologizing to them just because we play games together. “
