Last summer, Jada Pinkett Smith revealed this summer about her relationship with August Alsina – whom she met through her son Jaden Smith while she was separated from her husband Will Smith. It was on Red table that Jada was speaking in public for the first time ̵
“I want to put it on the table,” Willow said in this Monday’s episode RTT on Facebook Watch, which featured guest star Brene Brown. “I’m so proud of you,” she said, watching her mother and father sit down to discuss — openly, honestly, calmly, and without judgment — Jada’s relationship with Alsina during her breakup with Will. “So that I could see you and Dad do this, it was like, ‘Okay, this is the real deal,'” Willow continued. “It’s real love … Like when you can be like, ‘I’m with you. I’ll stand next to you and take your hand. “… that’s really important.”
Willow, of course, has long been wise beyond his age – but nonetheless, it is still so refreshing to see how this wise young man can look upon his depraved, vulnerable parents through (not at all pink, promise) compassion.
Will, for his part, spoke on Tidal’s podcast in 2018, saying that he and Jada “don’t even say we’re married anymore. We treat ourselves as partners in life, where you enter that space where you realize that you are literally with someone for the rest of your life. There are no interruptions in the deals, “he continued, adding that” there is nothing he can do – never “that would” disrupt our relationship. She has my support until death and it’s so nice to get to this space. “
While Jada confessed to Willow’s RTT this week that her brutal outspoken revelation of Alsina felt like a “complete explosion of, like, flaws and feelings and just the complete disintegration of any mask,” it’s clear that in fact her relationship with Willow’s father has grown stronger forged “In the fire,” as she went on to say RTT previously.
“One thing I’m going to say about you and me is that there have never been secrets … any relationship, trying to come to a deeper understanding of love, will be forged in the fire,” Jada told Will in the episode where she talks about Alsina.
And isn’t this kind of strength and resilience in relationships – and this honesty and self-esteem – what we all want to model for our children?
