WWE Raw Results, Summary, Ratings: Big title change before the huge Survivor Series show

From the time Randy Orton won the WWE Championship by Drew McIntyre in Hell in a Cell, there was a feeling that the clock was ticking in his run with the title. McIntyre was focused on winning the belt, Bray Wyatt had Orton in sight, and Miz was a constant threat to cash the money contract at the bank and steal the title. But this week’s Raw, it was McIntyre who ended the reign, defeating Orton in a fantastic main event to regain the title.

With the win, McIntyre now moves on to the Survivor Series, where he will face universal SmackDown champion Roman Reigns in Sunday’s main event. But both Orton and Miz could play a role when McIntyre confronts the “Chief of the Tribe.”

CBS Sports was with you all night, bringing you summaries and highlights from the whole night’s action. Read everything you need to know about the Raw’s Survivor Series home show.

Drew McIntyre regains the WWE Championship

McIntyre opened the show with a promotion in the ring aimed at Randy Orton and Roman Reigns. He was interrupted by Orton on the Tron, who spoke of being the most fined and suspended superstar in the locker, saying he was still in the WWE despite all this because he was the greatest fighter ever. After McIntyre said he would put a foot through Orton’s head, Miz and John Morrison had to interrupt him, saying they would be in the ring for the title match later that night – and that Miz would be the title holder. at the end of the night.

Bray Wyatt defeated The Miz by pinfall after hitting Sister Abigail. Miz’s remark in his earlier promotion to Wyatt as “crazy and deluded mad” led to Wyatt, who challenged the match during a Firefly Fun House match. Miz tried to apologize before the game, saying there was no good reason to have a game and instead find a peaceful solution, such as working together to get Orton out of the main event. Alexa Bliss came out from behind and said, “He says no.” Then Nikki Cross came out and told Bliss that she had to leave Wyatt just to be slapped and attacked by Bliss. Morrison joined outside several times, but was eventually attacked by Alexa Bliss, as the couple overturned over the barricade near the ring. Miz tried to take advantage of the distraction, but was brought out by Sister Abigail for the final, effectively removing Miz from the equation for the main event.

WWE Championship – Drew McIntyre defeated Randy Orton (c) by pinfall to win the title. McIntyre had a new entrance, walked to the ring with a kilt, and stabbed a giant clay sword into the entrance ramp – both given to him earlier in the night by Seamus, who said he had taken them from McIntyre’s mother and that they were a family of relics. McIntyre dominated early, forcing Orton to decide to leave and take the ten, but Adam Pierce interrupted him to say that the match now does not include outs or disqualifications. Orton quickly inserted a chair into the equation, using the weapon to take it. Orton will continue to use shortcuts, using the annular steps and the thumb to the eye as McIntyre returns. McIntyre managed to hit Future Shock DDT for two pieces and then knocked Orton off the ring apron through a table set in the ring for another close fall. After further action, McIntyre hit Claymore to win back the championship.

The show as a whole was maintained along with a strict focus on the main storylines aimed at the Survivor Series with a bit of unnecessary fat on the edges. This paid off well, as the night felt like it was in constant construction for the main event. McIntyre and Orton were then given time to play a match that could smooth out almost any card. The only minor wrong step was that Miz was completely absent because he was taken out by Wyatt, which removed a bit of “What if?” I feel it is established in the initial segment. For anyone who grumbles about a short run for the Orton title, I suggest you take a look at the history of the NWA World Cup to realize that even in the ’70s and’ 80s, doing business sometimes requires short-term. The problems with the Survivor Series team continue

Asuka, Mandy Rose & Dana Brooke beat Nia Jax, Shayna Baszler & Lana by submission after Asuka put Lana in Asuka’s lock. Before the match, Basler and Jax told Lana – who was the one who requested the match – that she should not be tagged under any circumstances. Baszler pressed Rose’s arm to the ring steps at the beginning of the match. Baszler locked Asuka in the Kirifuda clutch, but Lana joined in and kicked for two points. Asuka then quickly locked the Asuka lock for the final. This, of course, meant that Jax tracked the end of the match by letting Lana through the Samoan drop-down table. Later, while Brooke was leaking information about Rose’s health, she was attacked by Reckoning and crammed into some crates of equipment. Rose and Brooke were announced that they could not compete in the Survivor Series now, with Peyton Royce and Lacey Evans being named as their substitutes.

Retribution def. Riddle, Keith Lee, Braun Strowman & Sheamus via pinfall when Mustafa Ali navigated Riddle. The match was compiled by AJ Styles as an attempt to build team chemistry, something Ali seems to be challenging, claiming that his band is not a collection of pawns and he will just wait to see Team Raw fall apart. Problems at Team Raw immediately surfaced with Strowman and Sheamus entering it before spilling a dispute with Styles over his claim to be captain of the team. Lee had a big outburst of insult after a hot tag setting up his team to take over, but Seamus used a blind tag to enter the ring, Strowman did the same seconds later, and then Sheamus stopped Strowman from hitting Powerwerslam. This led to a dispute between the team, which allowed Ali to wind up Riddle for the victory.

Like the cover photo of WWE, everything was pretty focused all night here, but the changes in the women’s team didn’t make sense unless there were legal injuries. It is believed that Rose was legally injured last week, which would require the removal of Brooke from the match, and that they are a team that is likely to follow the titles soon. The men’s team seems so dominant on paper that further identification of issues between members was a very good move towards the Survivor Series. Class: B

What else happened at WWE Raw?

  • Cruel team championship – The new day (c) def. The Hurt Business through pinfall to keep the titles. It was a fantastic match with everyone running at full speed and some very convincing close falls in both directions before Xavier Woods slaughtered Shelton Benjamin after hitting Daybreak. This confirms New Day for the Survivor Series match with SmackDown tag champion The Street Profits.
  • Jeff Hardy faced Elias in the locker room after Elias had plastered the area behind the scenes with “wanted posters” involving Hardy and the car crash that brought Elias out of action months ago. Hardy insisted he had been proven innocent and threatened to do worse, which hit Elias with a car if he didn’t back down.
  • Asuka was interviewed behind the scenes and said she looks forward to beating SmackDown women’s champion Sasha Banks in the Survivor Series.
