WWE wrestler James “Kamala” Harris has died. WWE confirmed his death on their official website He was 70 years old.
The WWE statement did not state the cause of death, but according to a Facebook post by Kenny Casanova, the writer who co-authored Harris’s autobiography, the fighter died of the coronavirus. The Washington Post said Harris suffered from many health problems and that both of his legs had been amputated in recent years due to complications from diabetes.
Standing at 6’7 ″ and weighing 380 kilograms, fans knew Harris as a wrestling superstar “Kamala” or “Ugandan Giant”. Kamala was characterized by an African mask, warpaint and linen. He would enter the ring barefoot and barely utter a word and was very primal as he terrorized his opponents. He was a big fan favorite as he fought in the mid-south, in the World Wrestling Championships, WCW and WWE until 2006.

His career was in full swing during the 80’s birth of Jake “Snake” Roberts and Hulk Hogan. He fought Andre the Giant in a series of matches before stepping down from the stage in 1984.
He returned to the WWF in 1986, where he was under the new management of The Wizard and was “processed” by a masked man named Kim Chi. He also faced Hulk Hogan in numerous matches for the WWF World Heavyweight Championship. He bowed to the WWF in 1987.
