If you’re already a member of the Xbox Game Pass, Microsoft’s attempt to create Netflix for gaming, you know how crazy the deal is. Together with Project xCloud, this is a pillar of Microsoft̵
The service has over 100 games, with more being added every month. And it’s not just quantity. There are dozens of great titles, both AAA and indie, to go deeper for $ 9.99 a month (or $ 14.99 if you getwhich allows you to select games to play on a computer).
If you are new to the service or are about to join, here are ten games you should play right away.
Doom Eternal is one of the new games on Xbox Game Pass, which offers the service on October 1. This is a sequel to Doom from 2016, a restart of the classic archery franchise. This includes platforming and killing many, many (and many) demons. The game was well received after its release in March, receiving 8/10 from our sister site GameSpot.
Gears 5 Ultimate
Gears 5 Ultimate is one of the crowns of the Xbox Game Pass. The blockbuster in 2019 is one of the biggest games on Xbox One in the first place and the very fact that such games are in Game Pass, shows how seriously Microsoft invests in the service. Available on both Xbox One and PC.
Age of Empires II Final Edition
Age of Empires II is the comfortable food of the games. The final release of this iconic computer game, launched last November on both Xbox One and PC, increasing the game to 4K and adding new campaigns and you can play on both platforms via Game Pass.
Ori and the will of wisdom
Ori and the Will of the Wisps is a beautiful game from Moon Studios, which is a sequel to Ori and the Blind Forest from 2015. A sincere platformer and adventure game, it is a bit like a mix between Metroid, Castlevania and Rayman. It received much praise for its release in 2017, with the CNET GameSpot’s sister calling it a “remarkable synthesis of clever design and beautiful moments.”
Forza Horizon 4
As for non-first-person shooters, Forza is probably Microsoft’s largest and best exclusive franchise. Forza Horizon 4 takes place in a UK-based world and received huge acclaim at its launch in 2018. It will soon be joined by Forza Motorsport 7, in which you race on the track, not on the open road. This title reaches the Game Pass on October 8
If you’re tired of big budget first-person shooters, try Dead Space. This is a beautiful, colorful platform for action in the style of Metroidvania, which was launched in 2018 with critical acclaim. It’s still a cult favorite, and it’s worth downloading if you haven’t played it yet (and even if you’ve already). It can be played on both Xbox and PC via Game Pass Ultimate.
The outer worlds
Speaking of imaginary games, The Outer Worlds is an RPG from Obsidian, the band behind Fallout New Vegas, and is the winner. It is located in an alternate universe where Theodore Roosevelt did not regulate large American companies in the early 20th century, which led to them … colonizing the galaxy, apparently. So it’s basically a Fallout in space. Game Pass Ultimate users can play it on both PC and Xbox.
Destiny 2 is an extremely popular lute shooter developed by Bungie, the band that brought you the original Halo. However, this is not new after hitting the Xbox One in 2017. Now is the perfect time to enter – or return – to Destiny 2, however, with a change in the franchise (according to Bungie) Beyond Light, launched in November.
Oxenfree is a supernatural thriller, originally released for PC, Mac and Xbox One in 2016 and has since moved to iOS and Android, among other platforms. It will take you less than five hours to win, but it is a memorable tale worth living.
Halo: The Master Chief Collection
Master Chief Collection is a remastered package that includes Halo 1, 2 and 3, ODST, Rach and Halo 4. Yes, that’s a lot of Halo. The game was criticized when it was released for poor online multiplayer and technical issues, but since then the fixes have fixed those issues. This is a great way to prepare for Halo: Infinite next year.
Wasteland 3 is an isometric RPG. This description really doesn’t make it fair in any way, as this post-apocalyptic game is filled with a delightful combination of suspense, strangeness and charm. It is located in Colorado from the 22nd century and includes both psycho clowns and a cult dedicated to Ronald Reagan. What more do you need?
What’s left of Edith Finch
This is the perfect game for a service like Game Pass. What’s left of Edith Finch is a two-hour title that you’ll finish in one go. It’s hard to describe the gameplay in a way that justifies justice, so I’ll just say it’s a ghostly study of the Finch family’s history. Let him go.
