Yankees vs. Cleveland Score: Gerrit Cole cruises, Bronx Bombers fuck around Shane Bieber in Game 1

On Tuesday night at Progressive Field, the New York Yankees opened their Wild Card Series match with Cleveland and the battle of the aces never materialized. The Yankees made Shane Bieber on the way to an easy victory with 12-3 in game 1 (result in the field). They have a 1-0 lead in the best of the three series.

Bieber didn’t have a 1-2-3 inning on Tuesday, and Cleveland fell behind before even sweating. New York fouled a lot of ground and took a few quality breakable balls in the ground, and when Bieber made a mistake, they did not miss. The Yankees had four out-of-base hits against Bieber.

On the other hand, Gerrit Cole took the running support and ran with it, especially after running away from a little third inning jam. Cleveland never seriously threatened the rest of the night. Here are three draws from the win in Game 1

of New York.

The Yankees fucked Bieber

Bieber had a bad start to his bad start. MLB bat champion DJ LeMahieu sent Bieber’s third pitch in the game on the right field for a single, then Aaron Judge sent Bieber’s fourth pitch over the center wall of the field for a double home.

To the action frames:

Bieber allowed seven home runs in 77 1/3 passes during the regular season and all seven came on the road. It was the first homer he allowed Progressive Field in 2020. Also, Bieber allowed one first inning run during the regular season, then allowed two on one swing on Tuesday. The attack is also far from over.

The Yankees added mileage in the third, two runs in the fourth and two more in the fifth. Bieber allowed seven runs in 4 2/3 passes in Game 1 – he did not allow more than three runs in any of his 12 regular season starts – after allowing 14 runs throughout the regular season. Just a brutal outing for the supposed winner Sai Young.

In addition, the home team was the ninth referee in 28 games after the season in his career. He was disgusting in the ALDS in 2017 against Cleveland (1 for 20 with 16 strokes), but is 24 for 82 (.293) with eight homers in 22 games after the season.

Cole was wonderful

I’m sure the early lead helped, but, God, Cole beat Cleveland in Game 1. He scored 13 and held the opposition on two tracks with six scattered goals in seven innings in Game 1. After the Yankees found a 7-2 lead, Cole really concluded and withdrew 11 of the last 12 tests it encountered. Quite dominant.

The only striker in Cleveland who caused him problems was Josh Naylor, who was part of Mike Clevinger’s trade. Naylor hit twice as high from the center wall of the field in the second inning and a home run to the center in the fourth inning. He added a single in the seventh and another double in the ninth. Cole threw high speed balls at every Cleveland striker all night except Naylor.

According to MLB.com’s Andrew Simon, Nylor is the first player with two “barrels” against Cole in a single game since July 2018. Statcast defines “barrel” as a battered ball, whose comparable types of shots (in terms of exit speed and angle of launch) have resulted in a minimum of .500 average stroke value and 1500 percent. ”In general, barrels are the best possible contact.

Naylor made 3 for 3 and was three times shorter than the cycle against Cole. The rest of the team went 3 with 23 against him. Cole’s 13 shots are the second highest at the start of the season in Yankee history:

  1. Roger Clemens, 2000 ALCS game 4 against sailors: 15 K
  2. Gerrit Cole, 2020 Wild Card Series Game 1 vs. Cleveland: 13 К.
  3. Orlando Hernandez, 2000 World Series Game 3 vs. Mets: 12 K
  4. Several leveled with 11

Cole and Hall of Fame Bob Gibson are the only pitchers in history with multiple games with 13 strokes in the post-season period. Cole hit 15 in ALDS Game 2 against Reyes last year.

It’s just the Wild Card Series, not the World Series, but the Yankees gave Cole a record $ 324 million to win games like Tuesday. He beat a fellow ace on the road to give his team a 1-0 lead. The Yankees are now one win away from ALDS.

Torres woke up

The Yankees have scored 12 runs in Game 1 after scoring no more than three runs in four of their last five regular-season games. There were questions – legitimate questions – about the ability of their violation to produce away from Yankee Stadium. See the division of the home / road:

  • Yankees at home: .266 / .363 / .530 and 6.4 runs per game
  • Yankees on the road: .226 / .319 / .358 and 4.1 tracks per game

Their questions about the crime were answered with 12 tracks in a game started by the best guy in the American League away from Yankee Stadium. It is difficult to answer better than that.

Each Yankee reached base at least once, and five of their nine starters reached base several times. Gleiber Torres, who missed .368 in an uneven regular season, made 4 for 4 with a homer and a walk. The New York strikers 7-8-9 went a combined 8 for 14 (.571) with a double and two homers.

It was a great day for the crime as a whole, and waking Torres should be even more encouraging. As noted, he had a very disappointing regular season that would have received more attention had it not been for the gloomy year of teammate Gary Sanchez. Torres was great last season. If he produces as if he is capable, he will make New York all the more dangerous.
