YOASOBI registers fifth week under No. 1 on Japan Hot 100 after leading streaming and video for 15 weeks

YOASOBI’s “Yoru ni kakeru” returns in fifth place on the Billboard Japan Hot 100 from September 7 to 13. The long-running hit, which has been at the top of the charts for weeks, led to streaming and video viewing for the 15th week, respectively, while also entering at number 2 for karaoke and number 6 for download.

Yoru ni kakeru saw a slight drop in streaming figures (from 9,259,480 to 9,011,832 streams) and also a decrease in video views (from 7,871,642 to 6,430,177 views), but both were far more greater than track number 2 for each indicator. Depending on how CD sales develop in the coming weeks, the song may still extend its recording at the top of the list.

The No. 1 physical sales song this week is “Oh, Yes” by BOYS AND MEN, which sold 55,996 copies in its first week. The single did not perform well in other indicators – № 74 for search, № 61 for Twitter mentions, for example – and bowed to number 9 in Japan Hot 100.

Meanwhile, sales of LiSA’s “Gurenge” CDs, released in July 2019, increased this week from 1516 to 2147 copies, indicating that it can enjoy a new leap in popularity as the film version of the animated series, to which it is connected, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, will open in theaters in October, and the latest collection of the original manga is based on drops around that time. To date, the single has consistently garnered 145,062 CD sales and does not appear to stop any time soon.

Billboard Japan Hot 100 combines physical and digital sales, radio broadcasting, mentions on Twitter, YouTube and GYAO! video reviews, Gracenote, audio streams from Amazon Music Unlimited, Apple Music, AWA, Google Play Music, KKBOX, LINE MUSIC, Rakuten Music, RecMusic provided by Gfk Japan, dHits, Uta Pass and Spotify, plus karaoke data from Daiichikosho and XING.
