Well, that didn’t take long.
A woman in Sherbrooke, who was stopped after curfew with her partner on a leash, told officers she was walking her pet.
The couple was spotted by Sherbrooke police at 9pm on Saturday, an hour after curfew entered Quebec from 8pm to 5am.
The couple walked along the sidewalk, heading for the center, with the man on a leash.
Advising that they violated the regulations and could face fines of more than $ 1,500 each, the couple “did not cooperate at all,” police spokesman Isabel Gendron said.
“One had the other on a leash, and she said she was taking her dog for a walk, pointing to her partner, as allowed by the exceptions provided by the Prime Minister of Quebec under the curfew law.”
The woman is 24 years old, her partner is 40.
Quebec curfew regulations allow dog owners to take their dog companions out after 8 p.m., as long as they stay a mile from their homes. Police tried to explain the true nature of the law, but the couple replied that it would be a “pleasure” to receive the fines and that this would not prevent them from breaking the rules in the future and seeing how many tickets they could get, Gendron said.
