YouTube is available for installation as a progressive web application (PWA)



A handful of Google services are available today as Progressive Web Apps. After Music and TV, YouTube’s main site can now be installed as a PWA for quick special access.

Progressive web application support for YouTube.com has been added in the last few days. In Chrome, the released plus icon in a circle appears directly in the everything box, prompting users to “Install an app.” This differs from the “Manually install” browser overflow option, which has been available for a long time.

You then receive a large red playback logo in the launcher of your apps to open YouTube in a window that lacks the address bar and other UI elements for a special experience. Attaching the shelf (as in Chrome OS) provides instant access to what is being played.

This option to install the main site joins the PWA for YouTube Music (October 201

9) and YouTube TV (January 2020), thus ending the family. Meanwhile, other Google sites include:
